Course Title: Edge AI from Scratch — Building an Object Detection System on AOM-2721 with Edge Impulse
This course provides a complete hands-on walkthrough of building an edge AI system from the ground up. Using the Advantech AOM-2721 module powered by the Qualcomm QCS6490 processor as the hardware platform, and Edge Impulse Studio as the cloud-based AI development tool, participants will build a real-time PCB soldering defect detection system.
The course covers the full development pipeline — from hardware boot configuration, CLI setup, and data collection and labeling, to YOLOv5 model training and on-device deployment. It also introduces EON Tuner, an automated hyperparameter optimization tool that helps find the best balance between accuracy, model size, and inference speed without the need for manual trial-and-error tuning.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to independently build and deploy an edge AI project, and understand how to effectively run AI models on resource-constrained embedded devices.
